Don’t Let Your Money or Your Freedom Fall Into This Nasty Trap

We’re one week out.

This time next week, millions of Americans will cast their votes. They’ll hold their noses, check a box and then turn on the TV to see if their man won.

But what comes Wednesday? Or next month? Or even next year?

Many folks think Tuesday will be the peak of this mess… that a new man in charge will suddenly clean out the bilge and right the ship.

Others think this ship should just keep on plowing through rough seas and let the seasick jump overboard.

I don’t believe any of it. And neither should you.

That’s because of the stock chart that’s below.

The Sick Truth

This is not a stock in our portfolio. But it is one I’ve written about before.

It’s a hot stock – one of the market’s strongest. And the folks in charge of keeping it that way will surely do their jobs.
ChartThis is a chart that compares the share price of The New York Times Co. (NYT) with the broad market over the current election cycle.

Its performance over the past five years is exceptional. It makes the S&P 500’s record-breaking rally look small.

That’s because the newspaper and the folks who run it have found a bit of a gold mine in the headlines… division.

It’s a topic I’ve written about before.

And as so many folks ponder the fate of this nation after the election – I bet you’re one of them – it’s worth reviewing some old ink.

Divided We Fall Profit

This link will take you to the February 2019 issue of Manward Letter.

If you’ve never read it, it’s worthy of your time. If you have read it, I think you’ll agree it’s worthy of review.

I tackle some tough subjects in the issue – like the possibility of a second Civil War, a nation divided and, yes, even the good news in it all.

I do something else in the issue though.

It’s where I unveil my “Gone to Hell” scale, a way of objectively measuring the state of our nation… or any other.

Things have changed since I penned the issue – some dramatically. But the idea behind it all remains rock-solid.

I urge you to read the issue (at least the first two articles) and ponder it all for yourself.

And then I want you to take another look at that chart above.

Do you think things will change on Tuesday?

Does the man with the mouthpiece matter… or are there other much more powerful forces that aren’t on the ballot?

You know my answer.

The man in the Oval Office and the headlines that surround him can’t change your fate… but you can.

Don’t let your money or your freedom fall into this nasty trap.
